FINALLY an update!

Hey everyone, I nkow you're all wondering where i've been and what has happened. As you can imagine, i've been super busy. Im just now getting a chance to update.

On May 23rd, my contractions started. They went on through out the night and on May 24th (around 4am) they intensified. I labored at home for several hours, switching between the birthing ball and the bath tub.

A few hours later, I met with my doula and we walked and walked and walked. We went to target, tuesday morning, and the the mall. This helped to take my mind off of labor, while also speeding things along with the walking.

Each time the contractions got stronger, my back would hurt badly. At one point I started squatting in the middle of the mall, so we decided to head over to the hospital. They checked me and I was 5cm dilated. We decided to stay there (worst mistake ever) and let things happen.

I go my heplock put in and they checked the baby. Everything was fine so I was free to get up. For a couple hours i would walk around the L&D floor but my back was killing me. I decided to try laboring in the shower. That helped a TON...until some bitch of a nurse came in and felt the need to monitor the baby with a doppler, even though I had JUST gotten off of the monitors in the room. We fought about it and she pushed my hand away from my tummy (which was holding the shower head and pushing out water onto my tummy). This screwed up my contractions and I had a really hard time after that. That's why she got sprayed in the face by me, and kicked out of the room.

Hours and hours passed and I couldn't get on top of the pain. At one point, I passed out on all fours. Apparently the baby was posterior (face up) and that's what was causing my pain.

Eventually I allowed them to break my water (which then allowed me to push). That's when we found out that my little man had passed meconium. I was fully dilated and effaced though so I went ahead and pushed. Soon after, Chase was born. May 25th 2007 at 5:26 am. 32 1/2 hours of HARD labor.

They didn't let him cry at first. They wanted to make sure they cleaned him out well before doing so. After they gave him the ok, they gave him to me, and for the first time, I was able to admire him. I kept thinking "he's so beautiful" and "we did it".

I wish I was able to go home right after that. Things got worse. They didn't change my bed sheets, the missed doses of my meds, they let me suffer through a gallbladder attack, etc. It was awful. NEVER again will I go to UVA. From now on I will be having a home birth.

Anywho I have pictures I wanted to share. WATCH CHASE GROW.

Welcome to the world sweet baby boy!
