7 weeks pregnant!
Can you believe it? I'm 7 weeks pregnant as of today. The past few weeks have flown by. As much as I love being pregnant and wanna treasure every second, I really wanna hurry up and get to 14 weeks. The risk of miscarriage drastically drops at that point. Sadly, that still doesn't mean im safe.
A couple years ago I had a LEEP procedure done. I had 2/3 of my cervix removed due to pre-cencerous cells. It had to be done or it would have spread. Because of this though, I am at risk for IC. There's a good possibility that I will need a cerclage in order to keep me from having a second trimester miscarriage. Basically, they'd stitch my cervix shut. From what i'm told, they'd remove the cerclage around week 37 of pregnancy. After that i could go into labor at any time.
The down side is that I may not be able to deliver vaginally. Sometimes when a woman has a cerclage, her cervix is unable to dialate completely and she ends up with a c-section. Though it's not something I want, I guess I wouldn't have much choice. I'll do whatever it takes to have a healthy baby.
As of right now though, im only on pelvic rest. That means no sex or any kind. Im not to increase the blood flow down there at all. If I wasn't having a problem with passing old blood, I probably would be allowed to be intimate, but that's not the case. Again, better safe then sorry, right?
My first official appointment is in 1 week. I'll be seen at the high risk department. At first I thought that would be a good thing. They see only high risk patients so I assumed I would get the appropriate care. Well, I haven't even been in there yet and already they push me aside. Lovely! Im gonna give them 1 chance. If I am even the slightest bit disappointed in their services, I WILL take the 6 hour round trip drive to MY doctor back home. Atleast then I know I would be treated like gold and would receive the BEST possible care.
